Tension for Juniors

50-54 lbs for juniors. Yellow version plays slightly softer than black.

Gauge Recommendation

16L (1.25mm) for best feel and control.

Overview

Yonex Poly Tour Pro is a softer playing poly stretched at high temperature during production to improve tension maintenance. "I felt like I could put the ball on a dime with it!" - exceptional control on fast swings. The ball seems to sink into it like a pillow at contact. Despite being firm, it has above average comfort for a poly with the yellow version playing slightly softer than black. Not the most spin-friendly in the Yonex family (actually the least), but the control and predictable response make it a favorite among power players. Don't try to get more than a month out of it - when it dies, it's done.

Best For

  • Power players wanting control
  • Players seeking soft poly with precision
  • Those who like dead, muted feel
  • Advanced players in hybrid setups

Not Ideal For

  • Maximum spin seekers (least spin in Yonex poly family)
  • Beginners
  • Those wanting crisp, lively feel

Pros

  • + Exceptional control - precision placement
  • + Soft, pillow-like feel for a poly
  • + Used by multiple top pros
  • + Good tension maintenance (high-temp process)
  • + Predictable response on fast swings
  • + Yellow version is slightly softer

Cons

  • Least spin-friendly in Yonex poly range
  • Steep tension drop eventually
  • Not for beginners
  • Can feel dead/muted to some
  • Limited lifespan (1 month max)
