Overview
Gosen Sidewinder is twisted during extrusion, which gives it a textured shape for more ball bite. Tennis Warehouse calls it one of the most arm-friendly co-polys on the market, and it has one of the lowest stiffness readings for a co-poly in the TWU database. The twist adds spin and control. Like many soft polys it loses tension at a fair rate, so plan regular restrings.
Best for
- Juniors trying their first poly
- Players who want poly control with less shock
- Spin-oriented players with arm sensitivity
Not ideal for
- Players who need tension to hold for weeks
- Young beginners
- Families on a tight budget
Pros
- Very soft for a polyester
- Textured twist adds bite
- Good control
- A gentle first poly for juniors
Cons
- Moderate tension loss
- Pricier than budget polys
- Reel only in 17 gauge
Stringer notes
Twisted co-poly: pull smoothly and avoid kinks.
Break-in period
Short.
When to replace
Every 8-12 hours of play, or when it feels loose.
Hybrid setup ideas
- Sidewinder mains with a multifilament cross for maximum comfort
