Polyester, especially shaped (multi-sided) or slick-coated poly. The mains slide and snap back at impact, which adds spin.
At what age should a junior switch to a spin string?
Each string page lists a recommended minimum age. Most spin polyesters in our database start at 12 to 14. Younger players usually get more from a softer string.
Does tension change spin?
Lower tension lets the strings move and snap back more, so many players get a little more spin and comfort a few pounds lower.
