How to approach Yonex, step by step

  1. US juniors: put a reminder in the calendar for January 2027, when Yonex says to reach back out.
  2. Before then, collect rankings, results, the current racquet and a short video.
  3. In January, check the Yonex USA tennis sponsorships page and fill in the form if it is open.
  4. Outside the US: find the nearest Yonex office in the Yonex distributor list and contact it directly.

How Yonex finds and signs juniors

  • A 2018 Zoo Tennis feature (republished by the Tennis Recruiting Network) says Yonex made a push to identify and sponsor promising young Americans, led by North American representative Jacek Dabrowski, who travels to junior events such as the Easter Bowl; Yonex bags were appearing on many top players at prestigious US junior tournaments. (Most of the article is behind a member login.) [4]
  • Yonex's Far East site said roughly 30 percent of players in the boys' and girls' junior divisions at the 2024 Australian Open used Yonex racquets, which it called the biggest market share of any racquet brand. [5]
  • Yonex Canada became the Official Racquet and String of the Ontario Tennis Association in a four-year deal from January 2020, including title sponsorship of the Ontario Junior Indoor and Outdoor Provincials. [7]

Juniors and young players with Yonex

Rei Sakamoto (Japan)Yonex counted his 2024 Australian Open boys' singles title among Team Yonex results. Signing age not published. [5]
Iva Jovic and Tyra Caterina Grant (USA)Yonex listed their 2024 Australian Open girls' doubles title among Team Yonex results. Signing age not published. [5]
Brandon Nakashima (USA)Announced as joining Team Yonex in April 2023 at age 21 (a pro signing, not a junior one). [6]

These players were already among the best in the world for their age. They show how the top deals happen, not what a typical junior can expect.

Other ways to get Yonex gear support

  • Yonex USA worked with the SCTA Foundation in 2021 to honour 10 juniors aged 12 to 18 for sportsmanship essays; each received a Yonex VCORE racquet. [8]
  • Yonex became official equipment sponsor of the USTA Foundation's Community Impact Hubs (community access, not elite sponsorship). [9]
  • Provincial/federation deals (e.g. Ontario Tennis Association in Canada) are a route to Yonex-backed junior events rather than individual contracts. [7]

What to watch out for

  • Applications for 2026 are closed on the US form; the form message says to reach back out in January 2027. Guides that say 'just fill in the form' do not mention this. [2]
  • The US form is for US juniors only; non-US families who submit it are told to use the distributor listing instead. [1]
