Good UTR for a 17 year old
For a 17-year-old boy, a UTR of about 9+ is on a college track and 12.75+ is top national level; for a 17-year-old girl, the same marks are about 6+ and 10.25+.
Approximate. UTR Sports has no official "good UTR by age" table: one scale (1.00–16.50) covers every age. The numbers below are published estimates, copied as written and checked 2026-10-16.
Age 17: three levels
Minimum UTR for each level in the Voyager Tennis tracking model (age 17 = Australian school Year 11). The academy built it from UTR, national, ITF, ATP/WTA rankings and US college data.

How to read these numbers
- Each number is a minimum for the level: a 17-year-old boy at 10.75+ tracks at Level 2 in the Voyager model.
- A rating between levels is normal. Voyager says players can rise two to three UTR levels in twelve months with the right training and match plan.
- Young for the school year? Voyager advises to use the school year, not the age, if college is the goal.
- The trend matters. Track the rating over time and compare it with the next age up.
Questions parents ask
What is a good UTR for a 17 year old?
For a 17-year-old boy, a UTR of about 9+ is on a college track and 12.75+ is top national level; for a 17-year-old girl, the same marks are about 6+ and 10.25+. These are approximate marks from Voyager Tennis's player tracking model, not official UTR Sports numbers.
Does UTR Sports publish ratings by age?
No. UTR Sports rates every player on one scale from 1.00 to 16.50, whatever their age or gender. Age benchmarks come from coaches and recruiting sites that compare juniors with college and pro results.
My 17 year old is below these numbers. Is it too late?
Not by itself. Players grow and develop at different ages, and Voyager notes that a late growth spurt often brings a jump in UTR. College coaches also look at how fast the rating is rising, not only the number.
